Winter is here, which means cozy layers and chic boots are taking over. While you're waiting for your Black Friday orders to arrive, it's a good idea to make some room and give your closet a refresh. Follow this quick and easy guide to declutter, organize, and revamp your wardrobe for the season.
Step 1: Set the Mood
Turn on your favorite playlist, sip some hot cocoa, and get ready to tackle your closet.
Step 2: Empty It All
Pull everything out of your closet. It’s time to rediscover hidden gems and ditch what no longer serves you.
Step 3: Sort Like a Pro
Make three piles:
• Keep: Pieces you love and wear.
• Donate/Sell: Items that don’t fit or match your vibe.
I suggest selling on depop or poshmark and if you have any luxury items, sell on the real real
• Store: Summer clothes you won’t need until warmer weather.
Step 4: Try It On
If you’re unsure about an item, try it on. Ask yourself: Does it fit? Do I love it? Can I style it easily?
Step 5: Organize Smart
Put everything back neatly. Color-code, use matching hangers, and store accessories in bins for easy access. I suggest separating tops by sleeve length and pants by material.
Step 6: Fill the Gaps
Make a wishlist for missing essentials like boots or a versatile coat, and make sure you check your newly organized closet before shopping. You may have just discovered a similar item tucked away in your closet that can replace an item on your wishlist. This will help you shop smarter, stay focused on what is really essential and save money.
Step 7: Stay Inspired
Do mini cleanouts monthly and rotate your wardrobe so every piece gets love.
A clean, organized closet is your secret weapon for effortless winter style. Having your closet organized is the best way to start a new year!
