We Are Mentally Glowing Up in 2025

By: Rylee Cassidy

note taking

“How to Glow Up” is a constant overdone cliche in the world of the media so due to this I wanted to create a slightly different take: How to Mentally Glow Up. It's winter (at least where I am) and everyone is sad. We can’t help it, the weather is awful, school is in full swing, and Christmas is long gone, even though we handled our holiday guilt with the article Handling Post-Holiday Eating Guilt. Although we have a couple more weeks before it's officially spring, why not try to get in a positive mood now before spring actually arrives? There seems to be a continuous overflow of negativity on the Internet and in 2025 we should focus on the positive.

Take Your Vitamins

Yes you heard that right, I sound like your mother, but it is proven to help. I have started

consistently taking my vitamins everyday and have truly seen beneficial results. I struggled with exhaustion and brain fog, but after taking a multivitamin everyday those negatives have started to improve. I feel awake during the day, do not have daily “crashes, ” and have overall felthealthier. Just take a look at this article if you really do not believe me. Also, not to mention taking vitamins everyday promotes structure, routine, and stability.

Set Aside Time Everyday to Connect with Others

I know most people are busy, I get it. But prioritizing time to spend with others not only makes us feel better, but it also shows your loved ones your appreciation for them. Being away from family and friends, such as staying at college, can be hard on the person itself but also the ones who care about them. Checking in with your people everyday, even if it's just a single text can let your person know you're thinking about them. Science even shows that calling our moms has psychological benefits to our brain. Although alone time is nice (and necessary) too much of it can be depressing, so talking with our peers gives us the regular social interaction we need to survive.

Don’t Bottle Up Your Emotions

We all have heard the saying don’t bottle up your emotions, but for some it's easier said than

done. For those who struggle with this I give you some simple solutions. Journaling is great for mental health and can be done in so many different ways. Writing down our thoughts or even just complaining about something prioritizes our mental state, centers our attention, and rips us away from our technology (which needs to be ripped away sometimes). Crying is another way of letting our emotions flow freely and is inarguably necessary. For those who do not like crying in front of other people, crying alone, with pets, or even stuffed animals gets the job done. Physical activity also is good use of guiding our emotions, without outwardly sharing them. Something like taking a walk, running, yoga, or working out can let out our emotions in private.

Mental health is something that everyone may struggle with and it is crucial that we continue to talk about our battles with it in order to spread awareness. It is everyone’s first time living andwe are allowed to become down (and are supposed to!). It is all about how we overcome these bits of sorrow that is the most important. In this world of comparison and unfair standards, try to remember what we do not know about people behind closed doors. This article talks verbatim about these struggles. Life is unpredictable and that is the beauty of it!
