On October 9, Vogue announced that the 2025 Met Gala’s theme is going to be Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion, the exhibition will celebrate the elegance and style of Black men throughout history, focusing on dandyism from the 18th century to today (if you don’t really know what dandyism is, here is a video from the MET that explains it very well). It's going to be a stunning mix of culture, history, and fashion.
To add, this year’s co-hosts are Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and the iconic Anna Wintour. Oh, and LeBron James will be the honorary chair!
Sadly, we’ll have to wait until May 5, 2025, since tradition holds that the Met Gala always takes place on the first Monday in May. But that doesn't mean we can't get ahead of the curve and start channeling the essence of this year’s dandy-inspired theme, which is bound to set major trends.
I’ve personally curated a list of steps and items inspired by the theme, so you can start collecting timeless and anti-trend pieces that are sure to align with the statement the Met Gala will undoubtedly set.
Think tailored suits in luxe fabrics like velvet, fine wool, or brocade. The cut is everything, so go for something sharp and structured. Like these belted pants.
