With all the studying and stress of the college work week, game days are the excitement-filled times that balance out our crazy schedules! College game days are electric, school spirited, and camaraderie. Whether you’re a seasoned fan or are attending your first ever game, here’s a quick guide to make the most of it while also keeping yourself balanced!

The Night Before

At least for my school, game days are an all day event. To prepare for this, just like an early test or big day ahead, it’s important to start the night before. Getting a good night's rest is what’s going to set you up for an energy filled time. I trust the classic eight hour nights sleep before an early game.

Gameday Outfit Tips

Arguably the most important part of gameday is the outfit. The pictures, how you feel, comfort level, it all comes down to the outfit! This is a chance to show off school pride while also representing your personal style. A number one rule is to always wear your school's colors. Even if you don’t explicitly wear the logo, a pop of color will always go a long way. Some gameday closet staples are a denim dress with cowboy boots (a classic), a denim skirt that you can pair with any logo’d shirt, and a fun pair of shoes (preferably with your college colors!). In the winter months... layers, layers, layers! Opt for breathable fabrics and bring a light jacket or vest just in case. This skims top is a great under layer. Sneakers or any other comfortable pair of shoes are a must, since you’ll likely be on your feet walking around the stadium or tailgating. And DON'T forget cute sunglasses, pins, or hats! Accessories will always make an outfit more fun!

Stay Hydrated

Game days are undoubtedly long, especially with hours of tailgating before the game itself. Please, please, please stay hydrated, especially if you have a long day of drinking ahead. My tip is to bring a refillable water bottle if possible to save money and reduce waste at the stadium.

Plan your day

This is going to be a hectic day, so it’s important to plan ahead. Starting your morning with 5 habits that will totally upgrade your morning routine will help to remain balanced throughout the day! Make a timetable of when pictures are, getting to tailgates, and what time you’re gonna head into the stadium. Familiarize yourself with the stadium’s rules, like bag policies and entrance times. Lastly, have a meeting spot with a time just in case you and your friends separate!

Hopefully these tips will ensure a fun and safe gameday! During this busy day, don’t forget to enjoy some 'me time' at the end of the day! Enjoy this stress-free, energetic day filled with school spirit!
